Nog zo’n 3000 km te gaan, ‘t schiet dus al aardig op. Vandaag zo’n 97 km. Vanmorgen een laatste ontbijt in de caravan van Poul en Karen en het afscheid.
De EV7 (Europese lange afstands fietsroute nummer 7 naar de Noordkaap) loopt over het fietspad dat langs de camping loopt, dus we hoefden niet te zoeken. Kopenhagen uit, en dan begint het te regenen. Blijft het voorlopig even doen ook. We rijden een weg met heel veel stoplichten, dat schiet altijd lekker op. Als we echt de stad uit zijn begint er een heel leuke route naar Helsingøre. Hier en daar over een fietspad met stevige korte klimmetjes, tot 16%.
Onderweg stopten we even om wat warms te drinken/eten – heerlijke vissoep en al even lekkere koffie na, maar wel een wat duur restaurant. Zoiets moeten we niet al te vaak doen.
De weg naar Helsingøre gaat voor een deel langs de (oude) strandweg, met mooie uitzichten over de Sont, en in de verte al Helsingøre, en helsingborg (Zweden) aan de overkant.
In Helsingøre rijden we naar de aanlegplaats van de kleine veerboot over de Sont, die blijkt niet te varen omdat net vandaag d koningin met een boot in dat deel van de haven aankomt. Na enig heen en weer gevraag weten we waar we met de fiets moeten zijn voor de grote veerboot die gelukkig wel vaart. Gelukkig stonden we droog, want zoveel regen als er toen opeens viel zie je niet vaak. Weer een beetje droog, dan een kilometertje terugfietsen voor de veerboot. En nu zitten we dus in Zweden, even ten noorden van Helsingborg, op een camping waar we heel luxe een cabin hebben gehuurd. Buiten regent het zo nu en dan, maar binnen is het warm en droog.

Some 3000 more kms and we’ll be there.This morning we had breakfast and then said good bye to Poul and Karen. Cycling out of Copenhagen you learn the meaning of patience at the 100+ traffic lights that try to slow you down. So did the steep climbs in the bike path, and some of these narrow gates that you have to squeeze your bike through, bad enough with an ordinary bike with a lot of luggage, but just try it with a tandem.
It started to rain. The wind blew from the south east, not so bad, but at times suddenly blew from the north and tried to push us back.
We stopped at a place for a cup of soup, some warmth and some coffee – great fish soup, but rather expensive. It was after all a fancy restaurant.
The ferry we intended to take to Helsingborg (Sweden) was cancelled today because the queen was arriving in that part of the harbour, so we had to find out where to go, and cycle back to the place where the big car ferry left.
From Helsingborg we cycled to Ängelholm where we found a camp site where we treated ourselves to the luxury of a cabin, dry and comfortable. We put the tandem inside and unpacked the tent to dry it spread over tandem and couch.
And now it’s time to say goodnight and have a good night’s sleep. And by the way, this cycle route we’re following is called the Central European cycle route, or the route of the sun. We do hope it will live up to its name.
